Although Alex's first appearance on Degrassi was during early season 3, Paige and Alex's relationship was first shown in season 4. They started off as enemies, Paige at one point saying, "Alex hates me. I hate Alex." This changed when they had to work together at the local movie theatre, and they (unwillingingly) became friends.
Season 5 was when their relationship progressed. In the hour-long episode 'The Lexicon of Love', Paige and Alex realize their romantic feelings for each other. Their romance lasts until High Fidelity Part 1 when Alex breaks up with Paige because of their changing directions.
Although they ranked 3rd on The N's Top 40 Most Go-Therest Moments (the highest ranked couple on the list), it is unclear as to what will happen to their relationships in season 6.

ALEX NUNEZ (played by DEANNA CASALUCE) - Graduated [Victory Lap] (19)Alex made the transition from beautiful bad girl to pseudo-member of the cool clique thanks to her friendship with Paige, but she didn't lose her edge in the process. It's not surprising that Alex spent the year living in the moment, cutting class and smoking pot while everyone was planning for their future. What was surprising is that Alex fell in love...with Paige. Their brief romance ended when differences drove them apart but Alex is over it (or so she says). This year, she's back at Degrassi part-time to beef ip her marks and get into a massage therapy program - the problem is she couldn't be more over high school.
PAIGE MICHALCHUK (played by LAUREN COLLINS) - Graduated [University] (18)
Pretty, stylish, popular, Paige used to be the sharp-tougned Machiavellian princess of Degrassi but somehow she's softened a little. Paige's last year went according to plan with the exception that her relationship with Matt didn;t work out, she almost blew her shot at getting into Banting University and she explored her sexuality via a brief, unexpected relationship with none other than Alex (ok, so, not really according to plan at all). But by the time graduation caps spun through the air, she got her Banting acceptance letter and it looks like everything will be fine - except that she's going to muss her friends in Toronto - maybe even more than she realizes.
